We have several events each Spring/Summer to take full advantage of the lovely, but short Minnesota growing season. But, gardening just isn't for the 'nice' weather months here at the SSP Garden Club. We try and make winter a bit more enjoyable by hosting several fun-filled events throughout the winter. In September, we hold a Fall Plant Swap; October is our Fall Kick-off Potluck and Planning Meeting and November is the annual Banquet. From January through April we invite premier gardening experts to our club to speak at our monthly meeting. So, whether you're sipping hot chocolate or lemonade, we hope you enjoy gardening all year long.

Spring:

Annual Plant Sale. Held each year on Friday and Saturday  the third weekend in May. This sale, open to the public, features hundreds of perennials donated by our club's gardeners. Proceeds from the sale go to The South St. Paul Educational Foundation Dodge Nature Center Fund to make it possible for grade school students to learn about nature, horticulture and plants at this regional center.

Summer:

SSP Garden Club Community Garden Tour. This tour, held every other year on the last Sunday of June during South St. Paul Kaposia Days, showcases 10-12 area gardens on a self-guided tour. Applications for gardeners who wish to be considered for the 2014 Tour will be available for download on the website in the Spring of 2014.

Open Gate Tours' are informal, last-minute garden viewing. Kind of a "Hey, my garden looks great this week, come on over and take a peek" informal tour. Members are notified by email. Open to club members.

Fall/Winter:

Fall Kick-Off and Planning Potluck is held on the first Monday evening of October. Check the Upcoming Events page for time and location. Annual dues are payable at this meeting.

The Annual Banquet is held on the first Monday of November, place TBD. Club members enjoy a reduced price for an elegant meal with a program featuring a guest speaker, door prizes and silent auction. Download ticket information by clicking on one of the following formats (MS Word, PDF)

Monthly Meetings held the first Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. from January through April at the SSP VFW, 111 Concord Exchange, SSP. A variety of guest speakers show slides and offer guidelines and gardening advice. Refreshments, door prizes and information on club events. All meetings are open to members and non-members alike.
